Only certain types of civil motions, such as preliminary objections, motions for judgment on the pleadings, summary judgments, and post-trial relief, are scheduled for Argument Court. Argument Court is held monthly as scheduled by each each judge. These motions must be presented to the judge to whom the case is assigned along with the original and copy of the motion and any required brief.
The judicial chambers schedules the motion for the next available Argument Court date. Preliminary objections are decided on briefs, unless oral argument is requested and granted by the judge.
The moving party notices all other parties of the date of the scheduled argument.
Specific rules governing Argument Court are found in the Westmoreland County Local Rules of Civil Procedure W227.2.
