Broadband Study

In partnership with seven neighboring counties, Westmoreland County is taking part in a Regional Broadband Feasibility Study. On behalf of the Regional Broadband Task Force, Southern Alleghenies Planning and Development Commission (SAP&DC) submitted a $50,000 grant application to the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) on April 10, 2019, with $50,000 local match from eight participating counties. In late July 2019, ARC awarded the $50,000 grant to complete the study.

The first step in the process is knowing where residents and businesses are struggling with speed and access to broadband internet service. A survey is available for residents and businesses to provide their feedback. The window to provide feedback has been extended to April 30, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
