Westmoreland County is seeking a Veterans Representative to work in our Department of Veterans Affairs. Duties include the following: advise veterans/dependents on local, Pennsylvania and federal veterans benefits. The successful candidate will have the ability to effectively review and interpret medical and military records to determine available benefits. They must remain current on local, state and federal regulations governing these programs. Completes and files veterans or dependents’ claims for compensation, pension, emergency assistance and other applicable benefits. Will be responsible for scheduling transportation for veterans traveling to appointments at Pittsburgh VA hospital appointments.
Successful candidates shall possess a High School diploma or equivalent with some computer skills required. Must attain and maintain Department of Veteran Affairs approved accreditation as a Veterans Affairs Service Officer. Honorable service in the U.S. military is preferred, but not required.
