Westmoreland County Information Systems began a Printer Management Program at the end of 2010. The objective of this program is to reduce printing cost while improving the manageability of the printer fleet. With the utilization of the Information Technology Asset Management software called Survey and updating and linking the data to our physical Information Systems technology database we were able to automate much of the process associated with tracking and billing under a printer management program.
Planned for 2011 is the fine tuning of this project to assure we minimize our expenses while maximizing our benefits. This project is projected to save Westmoreland County thousands of dollars and improve our ability to manage printer costs and usage.
Juvenile Detention Probation Network Updated
Westmoreland County Juvenile Detention and Probation facility was remodeled in 2010 and all the staff was moved to other temporary locations until the remodeling project was completed. While the facility was vacant Information Systems took advantage of the vacancy to upgrade their network and cabling to support current and future needs thus minimizing disruption to the employees. We also installed a complete audio / video system in their new conference room to support their needs.
